School Holiday Program

Spring 2017 School Holiday Show Schedule

We will be open extended hours from 9am - 4pm every weekday during the Sept/Oct school holidays this Spring. There will be multiple shows running at different times everyday. 

PLEASE NOTE: Our extended kiosk menu starts Monday 25th September with a delicious selection of Turkish rolls, salads, sandwiches, hot meal packs, gourmet pastries and more! Extended school holiday kiosk hours are 10:30am-2:30pm (weekdays only).

  • Our live Science Shows are included in general admission prices. Planetarium shows are an additional charge. For more information see our ticket prices
  • In peak busy times such as school holidays, shows can book out. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are unable to be reserved and are issued on a first come, first served basis. Extra shows may be added on busy days.
  • Doors open 10min prior to start of shows. There is no late admission to planetarium shows.

Flight Academy

Attention all junior aviators! Explore the amazing effects of air and wind in a day of flight-tastic fun. Invent a flying machine to test in a vertical wind tunnel and design the ultimate paper plane to fly at 120 km/hr in our high-powered launcher. Watch a liquid nitrogen rocket blast off and launch your very own water and paper tube rockets outside.

Extreme  Engineering

Thurs 28th September

Wed 4th October (repeated) - ONLY 4 PLACES LEFT!

Calling all future engineers! Take part in an action packed day of extreme engineering challenges! Learn about strong shapes and the science of building design. Build the tallest tower and design structures that can withstand the powerful effects of tornadoes and earthquakes. Test the strength of your creations using industrial fans and vibrating platforms.

COST (per day): $80 Science Centre members // $100 non-members

TIME: Each day will run from 9am-3pm

  • Please be ready at 9am to sign in at Science Centre reception
  • Children are to be picked up from Science Centre reception at 3pm

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The day also includes a live science show, time to explore the exhibits and fully supervised meal breaks (BYO lunch and drink bottle)
  • Mini Makers STEM Days are age specific. Children MUST be aged 6-10 years to attend.
  • The same session is repeated on the 2nd week of the holidays.
  • To get the most out of the STEM days, it is expected that children will have basic writing, reading, cutting and computer skills. Hot glue guns may also be in use.
  • There are limited places available. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Cardboard Robot Arms *NEW*

Explore the relationship between humans and machines with this hands-on workshop! Take part in robotic challenges and construct your very own working hydraulic cardboard robot arm to take home using syringes, tubing and laser cut and 3D printed pieces. Learn how robots are designed to perform different tasks and discover where robotic technology may lead in the future.

CIY Coding Days - BOOK NOW!

CIY Coding Days are back these holidays for ages 7-17! At the one-day school holiday sessions, coding-enthusiasts can come and turn their imaginations into technological reality with learning at all ability levels. Book in now to get a taste of what technology is all about and where the future may lead us!

Game Coding Camp

Monday 25th September 2017

Friday 6th October (repeated)

Learn the basics of computer coding and game creation. We teach you how to make your very first computer game, and in just one day you will be able to put together a few different games including graphics and basic coding to make it interactive. You can take your games home and continue to develop them. Game Coding Camps are for beginners and intermediate coders alike, with content suitable for attendees to learn the foundations and design different games.

CIY.Club Full Day Session

Tuesday 26th September 2017

Join the CIY.Club community and attend a full day Club session. CIY.Clubs allow coders to embark on a journey which will see them learn, train and master skills for the future. Pathways start at the basics from Game Coding and 3D design. Their progression may open doors to more advanced challenges in these topics, as well as 3D Printing, Website Development, Robotics or App Design. Come and learn the foundations underlying some of today's most exciting areas of Technology!

COST (per day): $99 per day

TIME: Each day will run from 9am-3pm
