Please note:

  • Our live Science Shows are included in general admission prices. Planetarium shows are an additional charge. For more information see our ticket prices
  • In peak busy times such as school holidays, shows can book out. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are unable to be reserved and are issued on a first come, first served basis. Extra shows may be added on busy days.
  • Doors open 10min prior to start of shows. There is no late admission to planetarium shows.

 3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF! Learn about aerodynamics and air pressure. Compete in our paper aeroplane competition and test your creation in our paper plane launcher. Design your own water rocket to launch outside in the garden.

 For all budding gardeners! Build a flower press, dissect flowers, learn about the anatomy of an apple and discover how seeds travel. Plant your own seeds, make a model flower and build your own flower press to take home.

 Are you up for a challenge? Design a supportive structure to protect your egg from cracking when it is dropped from the second storey balcony! Learn about the science behind construction and architecture as you engineer Knex towers and 3D shapes.

KITCHEN CHEMISTRY

 In this workshop, we conduct amazing chemistry experiments with everyday household items found in the kitchen. Inflate a balloon on a bottle, make some magic milk and explore the pH scale using red cabbage indicator. Create your own oily lava lamp to take home.

DISASTER SCIENCE

 Explore the science behind natural disasters and volcanoes. Simulate a tsunami and create your own pet tornado to take home. Design an earthquake proof skyscraper and test it out on the Science Centre’s earthquake table exhibit!

 Why do some foods and drinks have bubbles in them? How is bread made? Why do we burp? Learn about detergents and surface tension through some bubble-tastic experiments. Invent your own bubble bath, wands and bubble blowers to take home.

Solve the crime of who stole the Smarties using footprints, fingerprints, handwriting and hair samples. Follow the clues and learn how forensic scientists use evidence to help convict criminals!

 This workshop looks at the science behind magic tricks. Mix potions and build a potion pipeline. Be amazed by mystifying feats performed with simple everyday objects! Try out the experiments again at home and amaze your friends and family!

  • Tickets are $20 /child per workshop for Science Centre Members and $25 for non-members. (workshop ticket price includes a child general entry ticket to the Science Centre)
  • Workshops will run for 90 minutes.
  • Suitable for 6 - 10 year olds. Children MUST be within the required age range to attend each workshop.
  • Online ticket pre-purchase is essential.
  • Tickets are not refundable
  • Workshops will start PROMPTLY at 2.00pm and finish at 3:30pm. (adults are not required to stay during workshops)
