Weather

30 minute duration
Explore extreme weather conditions in this high voltage show! Find out the size of the largest hail stone and see lightning bolts and giant clouds created before your very eyes. Includes demonstrations using liquid nitrogen, boiling water and a tesla coil. Science concepts include what causes weather, storm prediction, trade winds, tornadoes, hail, snow, thunder and lightning.


Liquid Nitrogen

30 minute duration
Our most popular show for older children and adults! Witness some truly 'cool' and sometimes explosive experiments using an incredibly cold substance - liquid nitrogen. Discover what really happens when liquids boil, learn about frost bite and find out why the Sydney Harbour Bridge shrinks on a cold day. Science concepts include thermal contraction/expansion, boiling points, pressure, temperature, the effects of freezing, cryogenics and changes of state.


H20: The Science of Water 

30 minute duration
Discover how much of our bodies are made up of water and find out if it is really safe to drink our own urine! Enjoy a variety of fun experiments using water, ice and water vapour. Science concepts include: different uses of water, water in the human body, water on Earth, states of matter (solids, liquids, gasses), floating/sinking, surface tension, evaporation, water cycle and water conservation/sustainability from an Indigenous perspective.


Sound & Music

30 minute duration
Loads of good vibrations and ingenious DIY musical instruments in this show!  Discover how your vocal cords work, play the amazing musical coat hanger and marvel at the famous Science Centre straw trombone!  Learn about tuning forks and how to make farm yard sound effects from a bucket and a plastic cup!  Science concepts include pitch, how sound is made, why it needs energy and how it travels.


Fantastic Fluids

30 minute duration


Gooey, oozy science fun! Unravel the strange properties of slime, air, toothpaste, tomato sauce and liquid nitrogen as you learn about fluids. Discover how sand behaves like a fluid, watch a fluid race and explore the science behind bouncing putty. Science concepts include liquids, stir thickening/thinning fluids and how fluids change and transform.


Science Of Sport

30 minute duration
Why do golf balls have dimples? What is the best way to catch a cricket ball without getting hurt or a water balloon without getting wet? How do mouth guards protect us against concussion? Why is it hard to push over a sumo wrestler? These questions and more are answered in this informative show about the science behind the sports we love. Science concepts include inertia, momentum, balance, impact, reaction time and technological advances in protective clothing.


Physical Phenomena

30 minutes duration

Vinegar, balloons, musical instruments, liquid nitrogen and more are used to demonstrate the many different forms of energy around about us in this "energetic' show!
